Batch No. 047

Poured by hand on the bench in Pasadena, California. Each jar from this batch is signed, dated, and reserved against this list.

A new approach to skincare

A balm that mirrors the skin's own biology in a vessel that protects it.

We don't keep an open shop because we don't keep open inventory. Each jar is rendered, infused, clarified, and poured the slow way and reserved the slow way too.

A letter from the bench

It started with my own shelf.

I'm Lee — the founder of ORB. This started as a personal reckoning. I began pulling labels apart. I read about toxicology and endocrine disruptors. I learned that "fragrance" is a legal black box for hundreds of synthetic compounds. The deeper I looked, the less I could keep using what I had been using.

So I started cleansing. Beauty products first. Then cleaning supplies. Then candles, laundry, anything that touched my body daily. I detoxed my home and rebuilt what I put on my skin from the ground up.

The hardest part wasn't cutting things. It was finding replacements that actually worked — that felt refined, smelled sophisticated, and didn't ask me to give up the rituals I love. So I started making my own. Slow-rendered tallow at my kitchen counter in Pasadena. Single-source botanicals. Months of testing on my own face before I'd give a jar to anyone.

Tamar — my friend, a filmmaker, a fellow mom — was the first person I shared a jar with. She came back asking for more. So we made more.

ORB is what we couldn't find anywhere else.

The formulation

Slower. Deeper. More intentional.

A balm that doesn't sit on top of the skin — but is read by it as familiar. Four decisions, made the long way.

i.

Why tallow

Lamb tallow is unlike any plant-based oil. Its composition mirrors the skin's own sebum — supremely absorbable, non-comedogenic, biologically familiar.

It penetrates deeply instead of sitting on the surface. Naturally rich in vitamins A, D, K2, E, CLA and Omega-7. Shelf-stable without preservatives.

Energetically: grounding, ancestral, restorative.

ii.

Why lamb

Compared to beef, lamb tallow is softer, lighter, more refined — ideal for the face. Symbolically, lamb carries the energy of gentleness and purity.

We use only organic, grass-fed lamb suet — the most potent fat the animal produces, found around the kidneys. Suet is denser in fat-soluble vitamins and CLA than any other cut.

Nothing diluted. Nothing compromised.

iii.

The vessel

ORB is jarred in biophotonic violet glass — a specialized dark glass that blocks visible light while allowing UV and infrared wavelengths through, actively preserving the potency of every formula.

The deep onyx tone holds an otherworldly depth. Designed to be kept, refilled, and kept again.

iv.

Lavender, infused

Rather than adding lavender essential oil, we slow-infuse the tallow with the highest-grade English lavender at the source. The fat absorbs the full spectrum — including linalool and linalyl acetate, known for anti-inflammatory and cell-regenerating effects.

Essential oils sit on top of a formula. Infusion weaves the plant into the base — more bioavailable, deeper, longer-lasting.

Beauty as ceremony. The body, returned to itself.

Sustainability

Beyond simply sustaining.

Every decision we make — what we source, what we leave out, how we package, how we pour — aims to give back more than it takes. Slow, small, deliberate.

i.

Refillable, by design

Send your empty jar back. We sterilize it, refill it, and return it for a meaningful discount. The jar is meant to outlast its first life — and its tenth.

ii.

Small batch, no waste

We pour only what's been reserved. Nothing sits on a shelf for months losing potency. The waiting list is a feature, not a bug.

iii.

Single-source ingredients

Grass-fed lamb suet from a small ranch. English lavender from a single field. Every ingredient traces back to a person and a place we trust.

iv.

Nothing synthetic

No preservatives. No fillers. No fragrance "stabilizers." Tallow is naturally shelf-stable; the rest of our formula is built to be entirely metabolized by the body.

v.

Made where it's sold

Every jar is rendered, infused, and poured in Pasadena. Most reach our customers within ten miles of where they were made.

vi.

A slow business

We aren't trying to scale fast. We're trying to make something good — and to keep making it the same way, for a long time.
